Cross country blues varsity race against Cambridge & being awarded a Full Blue

It was the last weekend of 2012 in Oxford before the christmas break, and with it traditionally the Cross Country Blues Varsity against Cambridge. I was selected to represent Oxford alongside five other girls and I have to say it was one of my greatest racing experiences so far! All the other girls are all amazing athletes that I really respect and that have been a super supportive and friendly team, it has been a great pleasure being part of! And the race itself has also been a special experience.

We all travelled to Wimbledon (neutral ground) in smart clothing for the team pictures that were taken as soon as we arrived (despite the freezing cold weather!).

The girls went off first and there was so much support along the route, I couldn’t believe it! There was a great team spirit and even though it was a super tough race, you were racing for the team and only beating the next Cambridge person counted. And even though we lost, the attitude within the team stayed positive, which unfortunately isn’t very common in teams like that.

I was even more honored and ecstatic when I was awarded a Full Blue for coming 3rd in the Oxford team.  A great day - that I will certainly not forget – to finish off a great term in Oxford.
